What’s the Point?
My kids are divorced, on drugs, can’t keep a job and expect me to support them. My health is lousy. There isn’t enough money to look after my grandkids and pay the rest of the bills. I’m too old to get a better job and too young to retire.
What’s the Point?
My parents only care about their jobs and their friends. I haven’t got anybody. I party and do drugs with my friends but when I’m in trouble those guys are gone. I’ve thought about suicide but I’m afraid.
What’s the Point?
My career took right off after college. I have a great family, three cars, a beautiful house in a good neighborhood, I love my wife and kids. I have a good life but what happens when it’s over? Is this all there is?
What’s the Point?
There is no point to life without God; regardless of our situation. That is why there have been hundreds, even thousands of religions throughout the years. Men look for God to find the meaning of life. That’s the way God made us. But the Bible asks the question, “Can you by searching find out God?” (Job 11:7) No! That’s why Jesus Christ said about himself, “The son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10) Why are we lost to God? We are lost to God because our sin has separated us from Him. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2) The Bible says “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) We have all been lost since sin entered the human race. “For as in Adam all died, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (I Corinthians 15:22)
Who is Jesus Christ?
The only begotten Son of God. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:1-3) ” And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” (John 1:18)
Why did he seek us?
Pure Love! Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16) True unselfish love; giving to meet our need when we had nothing to offer in return; doing what we could never do for ourselves. What more could God who made the universe give than himself, His Son, to be crucified, tortured to death physically, and to spiritually take upon himself the eternal penalty of all of our sins and be separated from God the Father; to rise from the dead to show his authority over sin and death. “Who himself bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we being dead to sin might live unto righteousness by whose stripes ye were healed.”(I Peter 2:24) “And having purged our sins sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:3) Who did Jesus Christ come looking for and die for? Sinners! When the religious leaders of Jesus’ day criticized him for associating with the sinners Jesus said,”They that are whole need not a physician but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” No matter how bad or how good you think you are, we are all sinners and Jesus paid the price for our sin.
So What is the Point of Life?
To be restored to a loving relationship with our creator God. Giving him control over our lives because he bought us back with His own life. “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us.” God loves us and gave himself for us. We are all sinners. “The Wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) God can forgive us because Jesus paid the penalty and satisfied the justice of our Holy God who must punish sin. Notice that eternal life is a “GIFT”. The Bible says “For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
How do we get the gift?
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.”(Romans 10:9) This is God’s plan for you and for all men no matter how good or how bad. Do you agree with God that you are a sinner? Do you believe God, that he sent his own Son to pay for your sins by suffering the whole wrath of God? Turn control of your life over to Jesus Christ, repent and ask Him to save you. You can have peace with God right now. You can have eternal life right now. You can have forgiveness of all your sins right now. “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.”(II Corinthians 9:15)
