What does the Bible say about the origin of man and the universe?

The Bible, from cover to cover, consistently reveals that God created everything by His Word.  There is no dispute among Bible believers about that.  However, when we read the Genesis account and see that He finished in six days, some questions jump out at us.  What about the apparent age of the universe, 13.8 billion years, and of the earth, 4.5 billion years?  What about science, does it contradict the Bible?
